Neurofeedback training is one type of biofeedback training that allows the subjects to do self-regulation during the training according to their real-time brain activities recognized from Electroencephalogram (EEG) and given to them through visual, audio or haptic feedback. The Neurofeedback training has proven to be helpful in improvement of cognitive abilities not only for patients with mental illnesses but also for healthy subjects.
In recent years, researchers have started to focus on performance optimization using neurofeedback training and usually the standard frequency range of EEG is employed in the neurofeedback training. However, it has been shown that individual frequency range based neurofeedback training is more efficient compared with standard range.
We proposed several EEG-based Neurofeedback methods with individual frequency bands to enhance cognitive ability of healthy adults. Based on the results from neurofeedback training experiments, it shows that the proposed methodology can help in improvement of cognitive abilities.
