I take great pleasure in welcoming you to the Fraunhofer Singapore.
The focus of the work that we do here can be summed up as the translation of research to the market in the field of Visual Computing. In other words, we deliver technical (visual) solutions and skilled minds to solve real world issues.
The key to our success here in Science and Technology is the strong partnership we have with Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and Fraunhofer IGD in Europe, and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) here in Singapore. Above all, we are very proud that we recently received an extension into RIE2020 by NRF. An exciting era has started.
Furthermore, it is very important to have strong ties with the academic and research community. Thus, we are linked to the schools in NTU such as the School of Computer Science and Engineering and overseas with Technische Universitaet Darmstadt (Germany) and Graz University of Technology (Austria). So I am very happy to be part of this ecosystem which is set on a different scale.
In addition, I am very pleased to see an increasingly involvement of the Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology (SIT) in Darmstadt and the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramics Technologies and Systems (IKTS) in Dresden. We are very confident, that we can tackle upcoming challenges in the Industry 4.0 and cybersecurity context with this new blend of expertise here in Singapore.
In addition, we are now seeing an increase in the number of companies coming to us for visual solutions and we are deep in discussions in Singapore, regionally and in Germany as well.
I would like to thank all of our partners and for their trust and support, without which, our continuing success wouldn't be possible.
The Centre's mission remains the same. We are constantly developing new technologies, we continue to provide high quality solutions, keep to our timelines and look towards sustaining long-term relations with our partners and clients.
In a nutshell, we are engineers. And we are also innovators. Now, we are building bridges between Asia and Europe with innovations in engineering. We are getting stronger in our ecosystem and this is exciting.
I look forward to working with you.
